First week of 1st Grade Art- Only One You Project

My 1st graders had a lot of fun learning about different elements of art and applying them to their artwork.
We read the book Only One You by Linda Kranz for inspiration. We talked about how it is a new year and we are all different, there is only one of each of us. And that is great!

Students learned how to draw their fish and after we talked about lines they had the chance to decorate it however they wished.
Students used either crayons or markers to color them in.

Finally, we learned about the element of Value and making tints, so the students could paint the water.
